Alex Martin - 3:07 Dublin Marathon
“Following the birth of my daughter. Having had a challenging couple of years with the
passing of my sister I felt inspired to take on the Dublin City Marathon to run for a very
special charity The Cancer Fund for Children.
Starting off in January it was extremely difficult to improve my fitness and I found myself
routinely stopping and starting when out for a run. I soon realised that I was going to need
some help if I was going to finish the marathon without the assistance of a taxi.
Following a quick Google search I found Run DTC coaching and signed up for the Tuesday
evening running group. Knowing that the group would be welcoming of all abilities put my
mind at ease. I was met by a great group of guys and girls of various abilities all of whom
were extremely welcoming and willing to share their running knowledge and experience.
These sessions have brought my running confidence and abilities far beyond my
expectations.
The coaches Daniel Stone and Feidhlim Kelly are quite impressive and have vast experience.
In my opinion they are an untapped resource for those of all abilities especially considering
their availability through Run DTC coaching which is so reasonably priced. I also opted for
the 1-1 marathon programme with Daniel who supported me in giving the marathon the
best effort I could. He was a great source of support and guidance in the lead up to the big
day. Many PBs later…all in all it was time well spent!.”
